A brief guide to hallmarking of precious metals.

I work with a range of metals including precious metals such as fine silver (precious metal clay), sterling silver and other silver grades such as Bali and Thai silver. Sterling silver is typically 92.5% silver. For items less than 7grams a hallmark is not required.

My policy is to describe the materials I used to create any given piece of jewellery. Technically I may refer to sterling silver or other silver grades as white metal. Non precious metals used will be described as base metal or plated base metal.
